Start Your 2019 Right by Celebrating NYE in New York
There are many ways you can celebrate the end of 2018 and the beginning of a new year. New York City is the go-to place to celebrate. If you’re heading to New York or making a last minute travel plan, here is a quick guide to help you out.
We Can’t Mention New York Without Talking About the Ball Drop
Even if you’ve never set foot in New York in your life, you know about the ball dropping in Times Square. It celebrates a new year, and a lot of people will be going up there. By a lot, we mean up to a million! Here are some tips:
Dress for the weather. Bring extra layers of clothing, or an umbrella if it rains. Look at the weather before you head up there.
Get there extremely early. It’s not an event you can attend last-minute, or else you’re not going to get a good view. You may need to head up there 12 hours in advance.
Pack as little as you can. Don’t bring backpacks or big bags. They won’t get past security.
Bring some food, water, and don’t drink too much. It’s hard to find a bathroom or a place to eat.
The ball drop is a bit of a hassle and is reserved for the most dedicated. Some people may prefer watching on TV, and that’s okay. There are other options.
Try Some Restaurants
Many restaurants and bars in New York offer New Year’s specials. Do some research and see what they have. Sometimes, you may need to reserve a spot, or it’s first come first serve. Either way, do your research and see what you can find. If you’re drinking, make sure you’re drinking responsibly.
Look up some clubs and see what they offer. Just make sure to be safe.
Look for Concerts
Many music acts rock, sing, and dance their way into 2019. See if there are any concerts in New York that still have tickets. It may be a little late, but you may get lucky and find yourself a ticket for your favorite band. Get hype for 2019 the right way.
Go to the New York Harbor
The harbor in New York often has some great events you should check out. For example, some people may love going on a boat ride or looking at possible fireworks.
It Doesn’t Have to Be Wild
You don’t have to go crazy. Some people will prefer a nice walk in Central Park, or go under the Brooklyn Bridge. You don’t need to get wasted or party hard to celebrate the New Year’s. Celebrate at your own pace. Often, a calmer, more relaxed event can end up being the experience of a lifetime.
There is no wrong way to celebrate 2019 in the Big Apple. As long as you’re having fun, you’re in for a surprise.
